Chocolate Tortie

1/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 pkg chocolate fudge cake mix
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 cup applesauce
2 eggs
1/3 cup chopped nuts

1. Preheat oven to 350*. Grease two round cake pans or a large bundt pan with shortening and lightly flour.

2. Melt milk and chocolate chips together in microwave or saucepan and set aside.

3. Beat cake mix and oil on low speed 30 seconds. (Should be crumbly). Reserve one cup of crumbles.

4. Beat applesauce and eggs into remaining crumble mixture over batter in teaspoonfuls with more concentrated around the edges than the center.

6. Stir pecans in with reserved crumble mixture and sprinkle over the batter in the pan(s). Bake at 350* for 40 to 50 minutes or until center is completely set. Cool completely.
